Office Cleaning: 4 Tips To Keep The Oven Clean

Of the different things to keep clean in the workplace, the oven is probably one of the last things you think about. It is not uncommon to forget to clean your oven until you're spring cleaning and realized you haven't touched it all year. However, if you have a kitchen in the office that has a working oven, it needs to be cleaned regularly. Here are some easy tips for keeping your oven clean.

Line the Rack with Aluminum Foil

A lot of messes in the oven are the result of drips coming from what you are baking. You may have a birthday pie you were baking that dripped off the pan or an office banquet casserole that bubbled over the edge of a glass casserole dish. Regardless of the source, you can reduce your clean-up time by lining the racks with foil. If there is a mess, it lands on the foil, and you can simply throw it out and put on a new sheet. However, do not put foil on the bottom of the oven. This is a fire hazard.

Clean it With Ammonia

Ammonia is a great product to use for cleaning your oven, and it doesn't require excessive scrubbing. Start by turning on your oven to a warm temperature, then filling a bowl with a small amount of ammonia. Place it on the top shelf of the oven, and put a pot of boiling water on the bottom shelf. Close the oven and let both sit for the remainder of the work day, with the oven on warm.

Before you leave for the day, remove the pan and dish and turn off the oven. Leave it to air out and cool off, then dip a cloth into ammonia and wipe down the oven. There will be no scrubbing because everything just wipes right off. Please note that this should not be done with a gas oven unless the pilot light is turned off.

Wipe Down a Self-Cleaning Oven

Even self-cleaning ovens need a little cleaning every once in a while. Newspaper is actually a good material for wiping down one of these ovens. When you are done with the self-cleaning feature, clean up the ashy residue with some crumpled newspaper. It helps you put your newspapers to good use and avoids using paper towels.

These simple tips will help you keep the office oven clean until the next time a professional cleaning service, like Banks Enterprise, provides a deep clean.
