Booking A Vacation Rental? 3 Things To Ask The Owner

Vacations give you something great to look forward to, a place to explore, and experiences you will remember for a lifetime. However, when it comes to booking the right vacation rental, there are a lot of things you should be mindful of. Here are three things you should ask the vacation rental owner and why.

1. What If Plans Change?

These days, plans change all the time, especially in the midst of a global pandemic. While you might feel great now, you could become exposed to the flu or even COVID-19 soon, which could create a lot of problems for your upcoming trip.

To safeguard yourself against changing plans, make sure that your host is ready and willing to allow you to change your plans if need be. Talk with them about their change or cancellation policy to create a stress-free experience.

2. What Amenities Do You Offer?

From stocked refrigerators to garages filled with recreation equipment, it is always nice to book a vacation rental with the amenities you need. Talk with different vacation rental owners, and ask what they are offering. Ask about things like luxury bedding, cable TV packages, and even bathrobes to wear around the vacation home so you feel right at home.

Additionally, ask if some of the amenities, such as food or robes, create additional charges when you stay in the place. For instance, you may be asked to pay a little extra if you use the food in the refrigerator or pantry, or there may be dry-cleaning charges for using linens.

3. Is There A Late Check-Out Option?

Often, when you are staying in a vacation rental, you will be asked to check out earlier on in the day to give the owners time to have cleaning businesses come into the home and tidy up. However, some check-out times are earlier than others, and if you want to relax and enjoy your morning (or your early afternoon), you could always ask for a late check-out.

By requesting a late check-out, you can sleep in, relax, and enjoy your last day on vacation while also making sure you take care of everything in the rental property. From putting towels in the wash to taking one last trip around the house to make sure you packed everything, not being rushed is a great feeling.

While it may seem uncomfortable to ask the owners of vacation homes questions, it can be worth it in the end. By choosing a place where you have full access to everything you need, you can kick back, relax, and enjoy your stay.
